As we all know, Megamud sucks when it comes to memory management.  So here are a few
tips to help.

#1:
Install a good memory manager for windows.
An outstanding free one for windows xp is FreeRAM XP PRO.

For windows ME or earlier, RAMpage is great.

#2:  For every character that you run, set an auto event to do a WHO command every hour.
Megamud maintains a list in memory of all characters online in your realm BUT Mega does
not recognise the new disconnect message when a user hangs up.  So you end up with
duplicate entries in your users list.  Doing a WHO every hour will keep the list cleaned up
and reduce the memory used by Megamud.

#3:  If you run more than one character, turn off your gossips and auctions on your dupes.
This reduces the amount of information Megamud has to store for scroll back on your other
characters.  You can also reduce the size of your scroll back buffer (game settings, other
tab) for your dupes.

#4:  Also for people with multiple characters, at least once per day, pull up the window for
each of your dupes and turn off your afk button.  This will let Megamud reset your AFK
message counter and will clear all the AFK messages Megamud was storing for you.  Go
ahead and clear the conversation window while you are at it.

#5:  Also while you have your dupes windows open, click VIEW, EXP RATE GRAPH.  Clear the
graph, and set the update frequency on the graph to 10 minute intervals (Graph, Update, 10
minutes).  Megamud maintains this graph all the way back to the last time the graph was
cleared or the last time Megamud was loaded.

#6.  Finally, reboot your game machine from time to time.  This resets everything.  This is
especially beneficial to people who use one computer for mudding and surfing the net,
music, chat, etc.   Yeah yeah, I know, big pain to get everything set up again and running but
trust me, it's worth it.  I reboot my game machine every 48 hours at maximum.

These tips will solve 90% of your Megamud related memory issues.
