Using the Quest Calculator
Unfortunately, Megamud was not designed to allow other programs to receive information from it. So the only way
to transfer information to my program is using copy and paste. However, using the Megamud Setup I suggested
here will allow you to simplify the process somewhat.
For the purposes of this help system, we will use information from my Level 65 Elf Missionary Night Shade (retired,
dead and buried now). I have edited his flags and his inventory to cause the program to think he has not
completed some of his quests for testing purposes. (You will get the same information by pressing the Demo QC
Button on the Quest Calculator. The Demo Data may or may not be identical to what you see here. I modify the
demo data often to test new features.)
The first step is to gather the information my program requires. Using my Megamud setup, I type:
ABILITY CHECK NIGHT and get the following information:
(This is the only information you need to copy into my program. If you copy the Megamud Quest Summary (shows
up in blue when you do the sys god <user> abil listing) then you will cause the program to have to process several
of the flags twice. This will slow down the program a little.)

I select this information from scroll back and press CTRL-C to copy the information into the clipboard. I select the
Quest Calculator main screen and click the Paste button. Once this button has been pressed, my reply options
become available. You can select any of the listed response methods. Click here to see a sample.
Then you simply click Quest Calculate. (If you selected a response method, Quest Calculator will switch to your
Megamud window and reply to the user via the method you selected)
You will see the following screen:

If you selected Email as your reply option, the status message for each quest, completed or not, will be copied into
your clipboard so you can paste it into the body of an email. Online reply options will only tell the user which quests
they have not completed.
As you can see, the program gives you a concise breakdown of where the user is on every quest, can they even do
it or not, and are they missing any required items for the next step in the quest. This is (in my opinion) a HUGE
improvement over the information that MajorMud and Megamud give you regarding questing.
If you feel the information is not correct, there is a View Raw Data option on the file menu that will allow you to see
exactly what information you posted into the program when you clicked the Paste button.
When you are finished, simply click Reset and the Quest Calculator will be ready for the next users information.
Right click and select Back to return to previous page.
