Using the Limited Item Locator
Unfortunately, Megamud was not designed to allow other programs to receive information from it. So the only way
to transfer information to my program is using copy and paste or capture files. For the Limited Item Locator,
because we need to see a large volume of data, we will use .CAP files to transfer the information from Megamud to
the Limited Item Locator. (You may run a demo of this function by clicking on Demo Items and then click Lim Item
Hog)
Again, we will start on the Quest Calculator Main Screen. Click on the Lim Item Hog button. If you have used this
program before, then you will see the following screen:

Click Yes to use the existing files (If you are doing a re-run or if you selected the Demo option). Otherwise click
No. The program will ask you if it is okay to delete the old files. If you click No then the program will ask you to do
something with the old files, then re-run the Limited Item Locator. If you click Yes then the old files will be deleted
from your system. You will then see the following screen:

Manually switch over to your Megamud window and follow the instructions listed in the above window. Once you
have created both files, switch back to the Limited Item Locator and click OK. The program will check to make sure
the files were created in the proper place. If it can not find them, it will tell you so and ask you if you wish to try
again. Clicking Yes will put you back to the step above. Clicking No will end the program and return you to the
Quest Calculator Main Screen.
If you did create the proper files in the proper location, then the following screen will be displayed.

This screen will break down, by Gang house, which Limited Items are stored in each house. Also included are
items on Monsters waiting to drop and items in the Sysop Support Chambers (all of them). If you'd like to post this
listing, perhaps in an email to your Sysop or maybe you have a forum somewhere for your Mudops/Sysops, then
check the box at the bottom right hand side of the screen. When you check that box, the following screen will
appear.
sample of the text
output generated by
this program.
Click Continue to return to the Gang House Listing. If you use a YaBB forum for communication between your
Ops, you can check the Format for YaBB Forums box and the text listing will be formatted using YaBB type edit
codes to add color and bold face print to the text output.
When ready, click on Next.
This screen will show you all items that are either laying on the ground (not in a gang house or in the Sysop
Support Chamber) and will show you the location of each of the Level 10 Quest Weapons. Clicking Back will return
you to the Gang House Listing. When finished, click Next.
The final screen will show you a list, sorted by user, of every limited item being held by a user. The display on the
right is a summary of users online when the list was generated and how many limited items they have on their
character. If the user is not online or has no limited items, then they will not show up on the listing to the right. Any
user with a limited item will show up on the listing to the left regardless of their online status.
Clicking Back will return you to the previous screen, clicking Next will return you to the Quest Calculator Main
Screen.
Next you will see the Realm Summary Report. As the name implies, this is simply a summary of the information
presented by the Limited Item Locator.
When ready, click Next.
Right click and select Back to return to previous page.
